86th Malasakit Center opens in DavOr

DAVAO CITY–Senator Christopher Lawrence Go on Friday led the opening of the 86th Malasakit Center in the country at the Davao Oriental Provincial Medical Center (DOPMC) in Mati City.

Go said the one-stop-shop facility will cater to the medical needs especially the poorest of the poor in the province.

“It will house representatives from the Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth), Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) and the Department of Health (DOH). You will no longer go to these agencies and wait for a long queue for your number to be called since it is already located in one office,” he said in an interview.

Go, who has earned the moniker “Father of Malasakit Center,” said he pushed for the passage of the Malasakit Act of 2019 so that the Filipinos’ medical needs are appropriately addressed.

“We will push for more centers as what I promised to the Filipinos,” the lawmaker added.

Governor Nelson Dayanghirang thanked the national government for putting the center in the provincial hospital.

“I thank President Duterte and Senator Go for this project. We have long been waiting for this to arrive and finally, we have one here in our province,” Dayanghirang said, adding the Malasakit Center will lessen the burden of poor patients in the province. (PNA)
