Hunt on for motorcycle thieves who killed NoCot teacher
COTABATO CITY – Pursuit operations are underway for two alleged motorcycle thieves who shot dead a public school teacher and took off with his motorbike along a remote village in Midsayap, North Cotabato on Sunday night.
Lt. Col. John Miridel Calinga, Midsayap police chief, identified the victim as Ravin Bigcas, 30, of Barangay Agriculture.
Calinga said the victim, a teacher of the Salunayan National High School in Barangay Central Glad, was driving his motorbike at around 6:30 p.m. when two men on board a motorcycle tailed shot him from behind using a .45-caliber pistol.
As the victim fell, the suspects fired more shots and fled taking with them the Honda XRM the former’s motorcycle.
Responding police officers rushed him to a hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival.
Found at the crime scene along the national highway in Barangay Central Glad were four empty shells of .45-caliber pistol.
Calinga said the motive could be robbery since the victim’s motorbike was taken by the suspect.
“We are still looking at other possible motives of the gun attack,” Calinga said. (PNA)
